Cyril Mansions

Historic Edwardian mansion block refurbishment in the heart of Battersea with a fresh contemporary renovation.

This elegant apartment is situated within the prestigious Cyril Mansions, on the Prince of Wales Drive fronting Battersea Park. The brief sought to improve flow and connection between rooms and make better use of views towards its impressive surroundings. The previous layout had been dark and pokey and in desperate need of updating. Reconfiguring the layout by swapping the dining and bathroom locations were key in creating a welcoming living space. Relocating the social spaces made better use of the natural light pouring in from the large Victorian windows whilst also providing a welcoming entrance with views from the front door through to the open plan dining.

A calming palette of contemporary and playful finishes took influence from the original heritage of the building. The communal entrance to Cyril Mansions features a distinctive marble mosaic tiled floor which provided inspiration for the use of marble and statement mosaic tiles across the space. The balance of old and new has been carefully considered to celebrate the properties Victorian heritage whilst simultaneously creating a fresh, sophisticated feel suitable for modern living.

Dwell Magazine - April 2020

My brief was for the flat was to be recognisable in its Victorian form but with modern accents. The stunningly simple kitchen and knock-out tiling in the shower room reflect this. The result is a wonderful flat ideal for my needs. Every time I open the door I have to pinch myself.”
