The key driver for this project was maximising the use of the house, with the upstairs needing to accommodate a contemporary family bathroom and a feature staircase to the new loft conversion. A bright and fresh material palette was used for the new interventions, comprising whites and soft greens, brushed brass and birch plywood.
The new staircase for the loft conversion needed to contrast the Victorian elements of the property rather than compete with them. Astrain Scheldt planned out the bespoke pieces of birch plywood, which were CNC cut and assembled in situ to form the sculptural staircase.
